European Neo-Avant-Gardes

From:
2016 to 2025

After the Second World War, several neo-avant-gardes in Europe picked up the literary experimentation of the so-called historical avant-gardes and continued to subvert dominant protocols, genres and boundaries in literature. This WOG, co-ordinated by the University of Leuven, combines the expertise of other Belgian, French and Austrian partners, and aims to chart and compare the European neo-avant-gardes' experimental forms and genres of writing, their work's political aspects, its innate tensions between regional and global concerns, and its intricate ties to technology and media.

Coordinated by Bart Vervaeck (University of Leuven) in collaboration with partners from the University of Brussels (VUB), Université de Liège, Ghent University, Université de Paris 8 Vincennes Saint-Denis and the University of Vienna.
